A key lets you assign one or more values. Keys are divided into main keys and subkeys.
The main keys are:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG
Among these main keys are also found a number of subkeys which in turn can possess additional subkeys with values.
