If you start O&O DiskImage directly from bootable disks such as CD, DVD or a USB stick, you will have access to all available functions.
The bootable disk contains Windows PE and can be used, for example, to restore an entire computer or a system partition, if an image has already been created. You can use the bootable disk with O&O DiskImage even if your Windows is incapable of booting as a result of software error.
Starting from CD/DVD
- Make sure that your system is able to be started from a CD. You can configure the necessary settings in BIOS. Further information can be obtained from your motherboard manufacturer.
- Insert the O&O DiskImage Start CD in your computer’s CD/DVD drive.
- Restart the computer. Follow the instructions at the start of the CD.
- The system settings will subsequently appear in the window. Select a language and region.
- At the next stage you can load drivers for those devices where no drivers under Windows PE were initially found, see also chapter "Load Drivers".
- O&O DiskImage will start after confirmation of the license regulation.
Start from USB stick
To boot from an USB stick, you normally have to change the boot sequence in the boot menu of your computer. Alternatively, you can also configure the necessary settings in BIOS. Further information can be obtained from your motherboard manufacturer.
- Open the boot menu while the computer is booting.
- You can change the sequence in the menu by placing the USB entry (removable devices) at the beginning.
- After that, your computer will recognize your USB stick as boot medium, and will start the program from there.
Note:
The sequence in the boot menu is normally only valid for the current computer status. This step might have to be repeated the next time your computer is booted.
