Getting Started
Navigation Through Your Computer
In the Treeview, just as in Windows Explorer, you have a general summary of all the folders and subfolders in the drives.
Analyzing drives
Analyzing your drive lets you see how much disk space individual programs, applications are occupying. The result is displayed in the form of a chart which displays the distribution of disk space. Once an analysis is complete, you can remove no longer needed data from your drive, for example, old or superfluous files.
Analyzing drives
To analyze a drive, please follow these instructions:
A chart will appear displaying the respective space usage and allocation.
The Status Bar displays a progress bar indicating the status of the analysis.
If you wish to analyze every hard disk, click on My Computer and start the analysis from there. Depending on the size of the disks, this procedure can take several minutes.
Understanding the chart
The chart displays files or folders and shows their comparative sizes. Individual sizes are shown in the labels. Smaller files and folders are lumped together and displayed as such. You can set the chart type (tree map, categories, disk space usage) in the toolbar below or under View. Each chart is designed interactively. By clicking on an individual folder in the chart, this folder will then be displayed as a chart itself.
Tree Map
The tree map in O&O DiskStat gives you a visual representation of the storage space usage on your drives. Here, files and folders are represented in the form of a tree diagram, with the size of each item being proportional to its disk space consumption. This allows you to see at a glance which files or folders are taking up the most space on your hard drive.
Overview of the Hard Disk
The start screen of O&O DiskStat displays an overview of used and free space on all drives.
Deleting Superfluous Data
Upon completing an analysis, you can delete selected files and folders:
1. In the chart, right-click the file or folder you wish to delete.
2. Select Delete from the context menu.
3. The selected folder will then be deleted and placed in the Recycle Bin.
Edit
Here you can access important and helpful functions for editing, copying, deleting and renaming your data. You can also create new directories here and display the properties of individual files and folders.

Help
Under Help you will find information about the program version and the status of the license, as well as about updates and the online help. If you want to release your license, you can do this under Help -> About O&O DiskStat.
Under Check for new version you get information about available updates and the possibility to install them. You will also be informed if an upgrade is available, but depending on the license type, you may be charged for this.
So-called"Minor Updates" (Version 15.0 to 15.1, 15.5,etc.), where smaller changes in the program have been made, are free. "Major-Updates", such as from version 15 to 16, must generally be purchased.
- If you decide to upgrade, download the current program version from our website under (Downloads) and save the installation file on your computer.
- Your license data will normally be saved during Minor Updates so you won't have to enter them again after a successful installation. To be on the safe side, we do recommend keeping your license key for the current version within easy reach - just in case you run into trouble.
- "Major Updates" will require the new license that you receive upon purchasing the software.
